Job Seekers

After graduating from Keene State in the spring of 2008 I have had to write a lot of cover letters and resumes, seeking out employment in various places for a variety of jobs related to my field. Between relatives in human resources, the college career center, friends, and a little help from google I was able to make it through.

However, you must know that you cannot continue to use these documents for every job as they each have a short life span. Resumes you can get away with not editing for at least a year as long as it is up to date. Cover letters have a life span of one use at a time. The same cover letter can't be expected to bring home the bacon everytime.

I find for cover letters the best reasource(thanks Liz!) is Martin Yate's book entitled Cover Letters that Knock 'em Dead. They have multiple examples and power phrases that you can adapt to your own needs. Yate provides you the ablity to have strong cover letters that not only exhibit your talents but grab employers attention.

Beginner

I have had my fair share of blogs and live journals but, was never comfortable sharing my deepest thoughts with the whole world. Since college I have learned that blogs are a type of medium both professionals and non professionals use to show case their talents or for what ever else they choose.

We choose to follow these creative individuals to get insight in their small piece of the world we live in. To share in their thoughts, creative projects, failures, excitment, and most importantly their triumphs.

This blog will be as ecclectic as my taste in music giving me an excuse to write. Mainly focusing on topics I know: Boston nightlife, books, news stories, and anything I can get my hands on. So if you're bored and don't know what to do, want a new book to read, or want a more in depth discussion on current events enjoy the Boston Jig ;)
